Albuquerque, NM – An undercover drug deal gone wrong has cost the city of Albuquerque $6.5 million dollars this week, after Officer Jacob Grant sued for being shot multiple times by his co-worker and fellow officer.
Officer Grant and his partner Holly Garcia were undercover working a deal to buy $60 worth of meth. For some reason during this “standard” drug bust Lieutenant Greg Brachle was confused as to what was going on and open fire on Officer Grant without recognizing him from point blank range, who at the time was sitting in the back of the suspects car.
Although according Officer Grant’s Claim against the city he claims Lieutenant Greg Brachle shot him despite: “the shooting occurred in broad daylight”, “Mr. Grant’s face was not hidden”, “Mr. Grant was wearing the same clothing that he would wear while conducting field operations”, and “as a supervisor assigned to the narcotics division Lt. Brachle was clearly aware of these seating arrangements”.
Lieutenant Greg Brachle was allowed to retire with full benefits while Officer Grant is still on a long road to recovery from his injuries, and the tax payers of Albuquerque are on the hook for over $40 million dollars in pay outs over the past 6 years due to the actions of their trigger happy police force.
This is just one more sacrifice in the never ending drug war, chasing down adults who are not allowed to decide what they want to put in their own body. While the government pretends they have any control over drugs on the street, ruin hundred of thousands of lives yet are unable to even keep drugs out of federally locked down prisons.
